After reading the below article, I'm curious to know what everyone's outlook on professional gaming is, and what direction do you feel it is headed in. Whatever the future holds for competitive gaming, do you want to be there when it realizes its fate? What are your goals as a gamer, and how far off is professional gaming in the scheme of your personal priorities, outside of family and adult responsibilities? www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/25/the-rise-of-esports-in-america?utm_campaign=fbposts&utm_source=facebook

As far as Tekken goes, It's iffy to me. The scene is smaller now than back in the tag days obviously, but now we have players getting sponsors and many notable names like Kor, Aris, Inkognito, and Anakin all making video series' to keep the scene alive. The FGC might not be huge right now, but we're definitely there.
Competitive fighting games are slowly getting easier, so hopefully newer players will get into it and we can grow. Unfortunately, many people are hostile to new players instead of supportive.
So, a message to those sore winners. If you've ever sent someone "lol noob".... you are the reason we are on death's doorstep.

I love Esports. I watch LOL, SC2, and of course fighting games. (my only real interest is Tekken and MK, but i will watch any game that is on) Personally i feel Esports is only going to get bigger and better. Fighting games are right at the front of it.
Ok when you look at Esports, think of genres that are involved, then look at which games are involved from said genres. ATM we have RTS, MOBA, FPS and Fighting games. From RTS we only have 1 game Starcraft 2. From FPS we have 2 games, Call of duty and Quake. From MOBA we have 2 games League of Legends and DOTA 2. And for fighting game we have??? Thats rigth all of them.
As far as competitive play goes fighting games work so well. Anyone can sit down and watch a game of SF or Tekken and you never need to have played it before to understand whats going on. The same can't be said for LOL or SC2, if you have never seen these games before or don't know how they're played it would be hella confusing. And fighting games is one v one (i mean players not characters) This means you get to see the whole action on one screen, not like FPS where the camera is constantly switching between players. Personally i don't find FPS enjoyable to watch.
Ok so the elephant in the room time. Yes fighting games have been dodgy with people throwing matches so they get into an easier bracket. And collusion happening where players split pots. But rules are being put in place to stop this. You have big people like EVO backing this and sponsors like Madcats. IF it works, it is only going to strengthen the Fighting game Esport scene. And all the players that say "Oh no you can't do that, we should be able to play how we want" I say not if the way you want to play is detrimental to the Esports as a whole you shouldn't.
I could go on about sponsors and the SC2 player that went to jail. but i've said quite a lot on the subject. But to finish i think Esports in General are going to keep growing with Fighting games growing fastest.-
