King discussion, talk about whatever when it comes to our favorite masked wrestler (my favorite anyway)
I've actually got a few things i'd like to talk about with King. First "Stagger kicks" i hate this move, and probably not for the reason you think. I don't hate this move cause i get hit with it, i hate it because it turns my favorite character into a cheap scrub magnet. and the worse thing is its not even like the character needs the move to be balanced. King is such a great character he has a good poke game, great impact moves, easy juggles (tho he is missing a good selection of launchers, tho this is good for balance and it not like hes got none at all), he has chain grabs, reversals, easy 10 hits and decent lows. He does not need stagger kicks. Stagger kicks are only used by players that don't know how to play King and only pick him hoping that one move will get then an easy win, or a lazy King player that can't be bothered to put some effort into use him properly. Either way it turns IMO the greatest character in the game into a scrubs first pick, and i hate it.
Now i got that off my chest let me talk about something that is making me happy
So i've been practicing with a fight stick for quite a while now. going from playing with a pad for 18 years to trying to learn to play with a stick has been quite the challange lets say. But playing King with a stick is brilliant, i really feel all his chain grabs just feel better on a stick. As a pad player i never set up the shoulder buttons for multiple buttons, instead i hold the pad in such a way that i use my forefinger and middle finger to hit the buttons not my thumb. this way my finger can dance around the pad hitting may combination of buttons when ever needed. However hitting 1+3 3+4 4+1 1+2 1+2+3 (this is in my opinion Kings greatest move and any true King fan knows what i'm talking about) unfortunately my old fingers just can't get round the pad fast enough any more, however on a stick this move seems almost easy. and Kings just frame DDT is so much easier to pull off on a stick. the only thing i'm struggling with is his straight standing giant swing, but i'm hoping a bit more practice will change this.
Ok play King, learn to chain grab, look cool and don't Stagger kick.
